Sgraffiti Painting by Toju Clark
Happy New Month to every member of this amazing community, I hope this post meets you well..
Today, I bring to you the ever engaging works of Bankole Olabode, an artist that expresses his creativity by telling a vivid and surreal stories on canvas using oil and acrylic colours 💜
One of his work that had me coming back to it after few weeks of viewing it for the first time is this first piece which he titled "Hourglass" done with acrylic paints on canvas. It is just a single frame with multiple plots.
From the few things I was able to decipher, I can see how the likes and views on social media have eaten into her head and it is also connected to a drip which means it is her daily dose and that defines her survival. I definitely feel that some surgery was carried out on her due to the medical equipments on the table..
Then about the girl in the mirror, I don't really get the clear picture, I feel she's forced into what she doesn't like whereas the girl that enlarged her assets shows it all off with no shame. I also noticed the strings over the girl's head - that I think is a puppet related thing, meaning she's not in control of the things she do but rather controlled by external forces/environmental influences. I will say that title really suits the painting so well because for how well and long will all these chase last?
Wooww.. that was a whole lot in one painting..
What do you see , I would love to know your own observations.
Below are more works from this exceptional artist... ENJOY!
